Vintage Revival

Posted on August 01 2018

Darling All

London is currently basking in a heatwave and suddenly, for some of us, we are rudely jilted from our rosé infused glasses and realise that we have nine weeks of our “Whispering Angels”* running amok over the summer holidays.  So instead of Alka-Seltzers to alleviate the effects, what about Baroque Rocks giving you that sought after effervescent sparkle and why vintage jewellery is not only the sustainable choice but the pick of the glitter for summer’s essentials (oh and for autumn, winter and spring too).

So why Vintage Jewellery?
Globalisation has been a huge success and the homogenised high street induces us to look like a Boden clad clone of Dolly the Sheep; but where is the agent of the independent mindset?  The emissary that steps into the fray is Baroque Rocks, serving up a blend of modern vintage jewellery which is effortlessly unique, collectible and stylish making you march to your own modernist beat – one from the 1960s onwards.

Online at www.baroquerocks.com we have a carefully curated portfolio of bejewelled pieces that make up late twentieth century fashion’s patchwork and are there to be discovered, revived and more importantly re-worn!

The specialized craftmanship from these eras takes design to the forefront with the 1960s and 1970s seeing art and jewellery converge becoming wearable art.  Baroque Rocks rather like the National Trust believes in preservation, acquiring treasures, saving them from smelting (only a finite number of baubles from these eras are in circulation) and “revives” them through polishing and cleansing thereby rebalancing energies.

Both Polishing and the usage of Tuning Forks are worthy of a separate piece of prose as they are arts in themselves.  No Soho Farmhouse does not offer this, but like all jewels (people and gemstones alike) every so often need to be pampered and rejuvenated!  A sparkling renaissance is achieved - No Botox needed!

By buying vintage you are also contributing to safeguarding the environment by making your choice about sustainable and socially conscious fashion.

Again, topics which are debated endlessly but suffice to say: “Every Little Helps”!! Touching upon monetary matters, if you have a portfolio of sensible investments but wish to diversify, do look at 1960’s / 1970’s jewellery from the doyennes of style: Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bvlgari etc. or the smaller houses such as Kutchinsky, Devlin and Grima (Bonham’s saw record Grima sales recently with pieces soaring way beyond all estimates!)!!  Baroque Rocks as a small company not only has a negligible carbon footprint but low overheads thereby we are able to keep pricing points alluring!  To tempt you further the longevity of jewellery means pieces can be handed down generation after generation!

So: “Question: How’d you like this knowledge that I brought?”**
Well if you are of independent mindset dancing to your own Beyoncé beat where unique style, design, rarity, collectability, longevity, sustainability, investment is your thing then look no further: Baroque Rocks is where it’s at!

With love from Emma and the Baroque Rocks Team
